Through the preservation of memory, story, and ʻike, we ensure that the wisdom of the past continues to guide the future.

The Mālama Waiʻanae Project is dedicated to reconnecting our youth with the land, waters, and cultural traditions of the Waiʻanae Moku through hands-on stewardship and place-based learning.
Our mission is to cultivate a new generation of caretakers who understand that the health of our communities is directly connected to the health of our ʻāina. Through the Hawaiian concept of mauka to makai, students learn how forests, streams, wetlands, shorelines, and ocean ecosystems are all interconnected and how each person has a kuleana to care for them.
Participants engage in meaningful service and educational activities that strengthen their pilina (relationship) with the land and their community, including:
By working alongside cultural practitioners, educators, farmers, and community leaders, students gain valuable life skills while developing a deeper appreciation for the unique beauty, history, and resources of our moku.
Every donation helps provide tools, supplies, transportation, native plants, educational materials, and hands-on learning opportunities for our youth. More importantly, your support helps nurture future leaders who will carry forward the values of aloha ʻāina, mālama ʻāina, and community stewardship for generations to come.
Together, we can empower our keiki to restore, protect, and perpetuate the lands and waters of Waiʻanae—one project, one relationship, and one generation at a time.
E mālama i ka ʻāina, a e mālama ka ʻāina iā kākou.
Care for the land, and the land will care for us.
